Today my brother forwarded me a story about the famous brush drawing known as "The Praying Hands". Nobody has been able to identify the source or authenticate this story. It is, nevertheless, moving.
The artist, Albrecht Dürer, was one of the eighteen children of an immigrant Hungarian goldsmith. He grew up in poverty, starting life as an apprentice in his father's shop in Nurenberg, Germany. Only two other siblings of the artist survived to adulthood.
Read the story here along with a biography of the artist who made this sketch in 1508.
