Steve Jobs died at the age of 56 yesterday. His biological mother - an unmarried college girl - gave him up for adoption to a working class couple in California. He dropped out of college after just a few months and pursued his interest in electronics. When he co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak, he became an international figure. Read about his life here. Steve Jobs urged people to "Think different".
In a famous speech at Stanford in 1995, he told students to "Stay hungry. Stay foolish". I was particularly impressed with his parting advice to them:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
