Doris Lessing died peacefully today, in her home in London. She was 94. A versatile writer with a brilliant mind, her books covered a wide range. In her youth, she was a fiery socialist and her early writings reflected that. Later she turned to spiritualism. No matter what the theme, her books always probe the interiors of human thoughts and feelings.

She was a prolific writer and her fiction has multiple dimensions... definitely not light reading. As I posted in May 2013, The Grass is Singing is one of her books that made a strong impression on me.
