It happened in 2011 in a suburb of Bombay. Keenan and Reuben, had protested and tried to defend their companions from eve-teasing ruffians. The miscreants went away, only to return with a bigger group who brutally thrashed and murdered the two young men in full public view. Bombay was considered a safe place for women. Having lived and moved around in the city for 30 years, I thought so too. And felt impelled to blog.. Read more about it here.
